સુરત: હવે લગ્ન એટલે ભભકો કરી એકબીજાને આંજી દેવાનો પ્રસંગ વધુ બનતો જાય છે. લગ્નમાં દેખાદેખીમાં લોકો લાખો રૂપિયાનો ખર્ચો કરી રહ્યા છે, ત્યારે સુરતમાં થયેલા આ લગ્ન સમાજને રાહ ચિંધે છે. સુરતના પ્રખ્યાત બિઝનેસમેન સવજીભાઈ વેકિરિયાએ તેમના દીકરા અને દીકરાના લગ્ન એકદમ સાદાઈથી કર્યા હતા. એટલું જ નહીં તેમણે દીકરીને કરિયાવરમાં તેની ઉંચાઈ જેટલાં પુસ્તકો આપ્યા હતા. તેમજ પુત્રવધૂને છાબમાં પુસ્તકો આપ્યા હતા. એટલું જ નહીં પાંચ સેવાભાવી સંસ્થાઓને 21-21 હજાર રૂપિયાનું દાન પણ આપ્યું હતું.
મુળ અમેરેલીના રફાળા ગામના સવજીભાઈ વેકરિયા તેની સેવાકીય પ્રવૃત્તિ માટે જાણીતા છે. તેમણે તેમના દીકરા અને દીકરીના લગ્ન એકદમ સાદાઈથી કરી સૌ કોઈને ચોંકાવી દીધા હતા. આર્યસમાજની વિધી મુજબ વૈદિક પરંપરાથી થયેલા લગ્નમાં માત્ર નજીકના સ્નેહજનોને આમંત્રિત કરાયા હતા.
લગ્નમાં કોઈ પ્રકારનો ઝાકમજોળ કે દેખાદેખી નહોતી. ફટાકડા કે વરઘોડો પણ નહોતો. દીકરાના તોરણ વખતે પુત્રવધૂને છાબમાં સોના-ચાંદીના ઝવેરાતના બદલે પુસ્તકો ભરીને છાબમાં આપવામાં આવ્યા હતા, એ જ રીતે દીકરનેવ વિદાય વખતે કરિયાવરમાં પુસ્તકો આપવામાં આવ્યા હતા.
સવજીભાઈ વેકરિયાએ આ લગ્ન દ્વારા સમાજમાં ખોટા ખર્ચા બચાવવાનો સંદેશ પહોંચાડ્યો છે. એટલું જ નહીં વરરજાએ સુરતની સ્કૂલમાં જઈને બાળકોને 125 વૃક્ષોના છોડનું વિતરણ કર્યું હતું.
સવજીભાઈ વેકરિયા સૌરાષ્ટ્ર પટેલ સેવા સમાજના ઉપપ્રમુખ પણ છે. તેમણે બે વર્ષ પહેલાં પોતાના મૂળ વતન રફાળા ગામની કાયાપલટ કરી હતી. તેમણે ગામને ‘ગોલ્ડન વિલેજ’ તરીકે સ્થાપિત કરી તેની કાયાપલટ કરી નાંખી હતી.
