મા-દીકરાનો પ્રેમ એ દુનિયાનો સૌથી શુદ્ધ પ્રેમ કહેવાય છે. પણ ક્યારેક એવી ઘટના સામે આવતી હોય છે જે માનવસમાજને હચમચાવી દે છે. પોતાના જીવતા જ્યારે જુવાનજોધ દીકરાને ગુમાવવો પડે એ કોઈ પણ માતા-પિતા માટે અસહ્ય સ્થિતિ બની જાય છે. આવી જ એક ઘટના બનાસકાંઠા જિલ્લામાં આવી છે. પાષણ હ્રદયનો માનવી પણ પીગળી જાય એવી તસવીરો સામે આવી છે. એક માતા તેના દીકરાના જ્યાં અંતિમ સંસ્કાર કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા તે સ્મશાનમાં રોજ આવી તેની રાખ પાસે બથ ભરીને સુઈ જાય છે.
આ કરૂણ ઘટના બનાસકાંઠા જિલ્લાના અમીરગઢ તાલુકાના જુનીરોહ ગામે સામે આવી છે. આ ગામમં મંગુબેન ચૌહાણ નામના મહિલા રહે છે. તેમના પતિ શંકરભાઈનો 10 વર્ષ અકસ્માતમાં અવસાન થયું ગયું. તેમને સંતાનમાં બે દીકરા અને બે દીકરીઓ છે. બે દીકરાઓ પૈકી એક દીકરાના લગ્ન થઈ ગયા છે જે માતાથી અલગ રહે છે. જ્યારે સૌથી નાનો દીકરો મહેશ માતાની સાથે રહેતો હતો. માતા અને મહેશ વચ્ચે અપાર પ્રેમ હતો. બંને એકબીજાને ખૂબ કાળજી રાખતા હતા. મહેશ માતાની તમામ ઈચ્છાઓ પૂરી કરત હતો.
માતા-દીકરાની આ ખુશી કુદરતને મંજુર નહોતી. અંદાજે ચાર મહિના પહેલા જુનીરોહ ગામ નજીક રેલવે ટ્રેક પર દીકરા મહેશનો મૃતદેહ મળી આવ્યો હતો. દીકરાની આવી અણધારી વિદાઈથી માતા ભાંગી ગઈ હતી. પરિવારજનોએ મંગુબેનને માંડ સંભાળ્યા હતા. મહેશના અંતિમ સંસ્કાર બાદ પણ મંગુબેન દીકરાને ભૂલ્યા નથી. હજી પણ તેઓ જ્યાં દીકરાના અંતિમસંસ્કાર કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા તે સ્મશાનમાં જઈ તેની ચિતાની રાખ પાસે જઈને સુઈ જાય છે. ગામના લોકોને જ્યારે આ ખબર પડે ત્યારે તેઓ માંડ સમજાવી મંગુબેનને પાછા લાવે છે.
જેને દૂધ પાઈ ખોળામાં રમાડીને મોટો કર્યો હોય એ દીકરો હવે દુનિયામાં નથી એ મંગુબેન હજી માનવા જ તૈયાર નથી. દીકરા પ્રત્યેનો માતાનો આ પ્રેમ જોઈને ભલભલા લોકો રડી પડે છે
