અમરીષ પટેલ અમદાવાદના વતની છે અને તેમણે પોતાના ઘરના પરંપરાગત ઉર્જા સ્ત્રોતોની જગ્યાએ સૌર ઉર્જાને પ્રાથમિકતા આપી છે. આજ કારણ છેકે, તેમણે છેલ્લાં ઘણા સમયથી વીજળીનું કોઈ બિલ ચુકવ્યુ નથી. એવું નથી કે તેમને બિલ આવતું જ નથી. પણ સૌર્જ ઉર્જાનો ઉપયોગ કરીને તેમણે વીજ બિલને ઝીરો કરી દીધું છે.
શહેરના થલતેજ વિસ્તારમાં રહેતા અને સંપૂર્ણરીતે પ્રકૃતિ સાથે સુમેળ સાધી જીવવામાં માનતા અમરીષભાઈનો ભવ્ય બંગલો છે. તેમાં છે 8 એસી, 3 ફ્રિજ, 20 પંખા તેમજ અન્ય ઈલેક્ટ્રિક સાધનો છે. એક સમયે તેમના ઘરનું લાઈટબિલ 20થી 25 હજાર આવતું હતું, જે અત્યારે ઘટીને ઝીરો જ થઈ ગયું છે. એટલુ જ નહીં, 2 થી 3 હજાર ક્રેડિટ પણ રહે છે.
આ માટે કારણભૂત છે સૌર ઉર્જાનો ઉપયોગ. અમરીષભાઈ પાસે જગ્યા તો હતી જ. બીજી તરફ સરકાર પણ સોલર ઉર્જાના ઉપયોગ માટે પ્રોત્સાહન આપી રહી છે. તેના કારણે લગભગ અઢી વર્ષ પહેલાં 5 કિલોવૉટની સોલર પેનલ નખાવી હતી. જે તેમને સબસિડી બાદ 1 લાખ 60 હજાર ખર્ચ થયો.
સોલર પેનલની બીજી એક મહત્વની વાત વિશે જણાવતાં અમરીષભાઈએ કહ્યું, જેના પણ ઘરમાં જગ્યા હોય તેમણે સોલર પેનલ તો અવશ્ય લગાવવી જોઈએ, કારણકે આ એક વન ટાઇમ ઈન્વેસ્ટમેન્ટ જેવું છે. આમાં બીજું કઈં મેન્ટેનેન્સ નથી. અઠવાડિયામાં માત્ર એક વાર છૂટા પાણીથી સાફ કરી દઈએ એટલે ધોવાઇ જાય છે અને ચોમાસામાં તો તેની પણ જરૂર રહેતી નથી. સોલર પેનલ પરથી ધૂળ નીકળી જાય એટલે વધુમાં વધુ સૂર્ય-ઉર્જા તેમાં શોષાય છે અને વધારે પાવર પેદા થાય છે. સૌર ઉર્જા માટે કોઈપણ પ્રકારનું પ્રદૂષણ પણ નથી થતું તે વધારામાં.
વર્ષો સુધી અમેરિકાના લૉસએંજેલસમાં રહીને આવેલા અમરીષભાઈ RO ના પાણીનો ઉપયોગ નથી કરતા. તેમનું માનવું છે કે, ROના ઉપયોગથી લગભગ બમણા પ્રમાણમાં પાણીનો બગાડ થાય છે. એટલે તેઓ કોર્પોરેશન તરફથી આપવામાં આવતા નર્મદાના પાણીને જ કાચના વાસણમાં ભરે છે અને તેને એક આખો દિવસ સૂરજના તડકામાં રાખે છે.
જેથી સૂર્યની ગરમીના કારણે પાણીમાં કોઈપણ પ્રકારના બેક્ટેરિયા હોય તો તેનો નાશ થાય છે, આ પાણી સૂર્ય ઉર્જિત ગણાય છે. નહાવા-ધોવા માટેના ગરમ પાણી માટે પણ ગેસ કે ઈલેક્ટ્રિક હિટરની જગ્યાએ તેઓ સોલર હિટર વાપરે છે, જેથી વીજળી કે રાંધણ-ગેસની બચત થાય છે.
ઘરની આસપાસની જગ્યામાં અમરીષભાઈએ લગભગ 16 મોટાં ઝાડનું વાવેતર કર્યું છે અને 70 કુંડાંમાં છોડ પણ છે. તો ધાબામાં કરેલા ગાર્ડનમાં પણ લગભગ 70 છોડ છે. જેમાં તેઓ ઓછી માવજત કરવી પડે અને સુંદર ફૂલો આવે તેવા છોડને પ્રાધાન્ય આપે છે.
આ ઉપરાંત સપ્તપર્ણી, આસોપાલવ સહિતનાં ઝાડ છે. તો ઉપરના બીજા ધાબામાં તેઓ વેજિટેબલ ગાર્ડન બનાવવાનો તેમનો પ્લાન પણ છે, જેથી ભવિષ્યમાં એકપણ શાકભાજી બજારમાંથી લાવવાની જરૂર ન પડે અને ઘરે જ જૈવિક રીતે વાવેલી શાકભાજી બારેયમાસ મળી રહે.
અમરીષભાઈ અને તેમના પરિવાર માટે ગાર્ડનિંગ એક અદભુત અનુભવ છે. તેમના જણાવ્યા અનુસાર, ઘરમાં હરિયાળીના કારણે સકારાત્મકતા રહે છે. રાત્રે હરિયાળીની વચ્ચે સૂવાથી ઊંઘ તો સરસ આવે જ છે, સાથે-સાથે સવારે પક્ષીઓના કલરવ સાથે ઊઠવાથી મન પણ ખુશ રહે છે. સ્વસ્થ જીવનના કારણે અમરીષભાઈનાં માતા આજે 80 વર્ષની ઉંમરે પણ સ્વસ્થ છે અને જે દિવસે અમરીષભાઈ ઘરે ન હોય એ દિવસે આ બધા જ ઝાડ છોડને પાણી પાવાનું અને માવજતનું કામ તેમની માતા જ કરે છે.
