લગ્નની સિઝન શરૂ થઈ ગઈ છે. ત્યારે સામાન્ય રીતે વરરાજા પોતાની જાન લઈને મોંઘી કાર, લક્ઝરી બસમાં દુલ્હનને લેવા માટે જતા હોય છે. પરંતુ વર્ષો પહેલાંની આદિવાસી ચૌધરી સમાજની જૂની પરંપરા ફરીવાર જીવંત થઈ હોય એવો માહોલ સર્જાયો છે. સુરત જિલ્લાના માંડવીના ખેડપુર ગામે અનોખી પરંપરા એટલે કે, શણગારેલા બળદગાડામાં જાન દુલ્હનને લેવા જતી હોય એવું જોવા મળ્યું હતું.
ગ્રામ્ય વિસ્તારોમાંથી પણ ધીમે ધીમે બળદગાડું મોટા ભાગે જોવા મળતું નથી. ત્યારે માંડવીના ખેડપુર ગામના ચૌધરી સમાજના પરિવારે આજથી 60 વર્ષ પહેલાંની આદિવાસી પરંપરાને જાળવી રાખવા અને નવી પેઢીને લગ્ન અંગેનો પરિચીત કરવા પ્રયત્ન કર્યો છે. જે સફળ પૂરવાર થયો હતો. આ જાનમાં બળદગાડાને ડેકોરેટ કરી બળદને પણ શણગાર કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. ઉપરાંત ચૌધરી સમાજની ભાષામાં લગ્નની કંકોતરી છપાવી હતી. જે આદિવાસી સમાજ પ્રત્યે આધુનિક સમયમાં આવી પ્રથા ભાગ્યે જ જોવા મળતી હોય છે. લોકો લગ્ન પ્રસંગે લાખોનો ખર્ચો કરતા હોય છે. ત્યારે આદિવાસી પરંપરા જાળવી રાખવા નવતર કહી શકાય એવો પ્રયોગ થયો હતો.
મૂળ મોરીઠા અને હાલ ખેડપુર રહેતા વરરાજા આશુતોષ ચૌધરીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે, અમે નાના હતા ત્યારે પહેલાના જમાનામાં બળદગાડામાં જાન જતી હતી. આવી રસપ્રદ વાતો સાંભળીને અમને આશ્ચર્ય લાગતું હતું. જેથી મને પણ વિચાર આવ્યો અને આદિવાસી સમાજની જૂની પરંપરા નાબૂદ ન થાય એ હેતુથી નવી પેઢીને સમાજ પ્રત્યેની પ્રેરણા મળે એ માટે ગાડામાં જાન જોડીને દુલ્હનને લેવા ગામમાં જ પહોંચવું છે.
અમે પ્રકૃતિનાં દર્શન કરતાં કરતાં બળદગાડામાં લગ્ન ગીત ગાતા પસાર થઈ રહ્યા હતા. અને બળદના ઘૂઘરા રણકતાં કંઈક અલગ પ્રકારની મુસાફરી હતી. માત્ર વરરાજાને જ નહીં પુત્રવધૂ દિવ્યા ચૌધરી(રહે., મૂળ કસાલ, હાલ ખેડપુર)ને પણ એનું ગૌરવ છે કે, જાન બળદગાડામાં આવી હતી. આજની નવી પેઢીને કલ્ચરથી પરિચીત કરાવવા આ અભિગમ અપનાવ્યો હતો.
મૂળ મોરીથાના અને હાલમાં ખેડપુરમાં રહેતાં આશુતોષ ચૌધરીએ કહ્યુ કે અમે દાદા – દાદી પાસેથી સાંભળ્યું હતું કે પહેલાં બળદગાડાંમાં જાન જોડીને પરણવા જતા હતાં. આ સાંભળી અમને આશ્વર્ય થતું , એટલે જ એવો વિચાર પણ આવ્યો કે આદિવાસી સમાજની જૂની પરંપરાને જીવંત રાખવી જેથી કરીને નવી પેઢી અને સમાજને પ્રેરણા મળે.
