શુક્રવારે રાત્રે નડિયાદના કપડવંજ રોડ પર આવેલા પ્રગતિનગરના પુનેશ્વર એપાર્ટમેન્ટ નામનો ત્રણ માળનો એક બ્લોક અચાનક ધરાશાયી થયો હતો. આ દુર્ઘટનામાં 4 લોકોનાં મોત નિપજ્યાં હતાં. દટાયેલાઓને બહાર કાઢવાની કામગીરીમાં નડિયાદ ફાયરબ્રિગેડ સહિતની બચાવ ટુકડી ઘટનાસ્થળે પહોંચી ગઈ હતી. અમદાવાદથી પણ ફાયર બ્રિગેડની ટીમને બોલાવવામાં આવી હતી. જ્યારે વડોદરાથી એનડીઆરએફની ટીમની પણ ઘટનાસ્થળે પહોંચી હતી.
ગુજરાત હાઉસિંગ બોર્ડનો બ્લોક નંબર 26 ધરાશાયી થતાં તેના કાટમાળમાં દબાયેલાઓને બહાર કાઢવા સ્થાનિકો, નડિયાદની ફાયર બ્રિગેડની ટીમ, અમદાવાદ ફાયર બ્રિગેડની 3 ટીમ અને વડોદરાથી એનડીઆરએફ પહોંચી હતી. અત્યાર સુધી દટાયેલા પૈકી 2 લોકોને બચાવી લેવાયા હતા અને તેમને સારવાર માટે હોસ્પિટલ ખસેડવામાં આવ્યા હતા.
બ્લોકને સિત્તેરના દાયકામાં બનાવવામાં આવ્યો હતો. જેમાં પ્રત્યેક બ્લોકમાં 12 મકાન હતા અને ત્રણ માળની બિલ્ડિંગ હતી. આ મકાનોની સ્થિતિને ધ્યાન રાખીને મકાનો ખાલી કરવા અગાઉ નોટીસ આપવામાં આવી હોવાનું જાણવા મળે છે.
