આજકાલ તમે યુટ્યૂબ પર નજર કરશો તો ઉત્તર ગુજરાતની એક છોકરીએ ધમાકો મચાવ્યો છે. અમે વાત કરી રહ્યા છે કાજલ મહેરિયાની. 28 વર્ષની સિંગર કાજલ મહેરિયાના મધુર અવાજના લાખો ચાહકો છે. તેમાં પણ ખાસ કરીને ‘બેવફા’ વિષય પર તેના સોંગ લોકોમાં ખૂબ ક્રેજ છે. તેના સોંગને હજારો નહીં પણ લાખોમાં વ્યૂઝ મળી રહ્યા છે. આ ઉપરાંત કાજલ મહેરિયાનો જ્યાં પણ પોગ્રામ હોય ત્યાં હઠડેઠઠ માનવમેદની ઉમટી પડે છે.
ગરીબ ખેડૂતના ઘરે જન્મેલી કાજલે તેના જિંદગીની શરૂઆતમાં ખૂબ સંઘર્ષ કર્યો છે. આજે ભાગ્યે જ કોઈ ગુજરાતી હશે જે કાજલ મહેરિયાને ન ઓળખતો હોય.
મહેસાણા જિલ્લાના વિસનગર તાલુકાના ગોઠવા ગામમાં 21 નવેમ્બર 1992ના રોજ કાજલ મહેરિયાનો જન્મ થયો હતો. તેમના પિતાનું નામ નગીનભાઈ છે તેઓ એક ખેડૂત છે.
કાજલ મહેરિયા ધોરણ 8માં હતી હતી ત્યારે સ્કૂલના ફંક્શનમાં તેના ટીચરે તેને પહેલી વખત લોકગીત ગાવાનો ચાન્સ આપ્યો હતો. અહીં કાજલે ‘વનમાં ચાંદલિયો ઉગ્યો રે..’ સોંગ ગાયું હતું.
આ ગીત ગાવા પર કાજલને જીવનની પહેલી ટ્રોફી મળી હતી અને અહીંથી કાજલની સિંગગમાં કરિયર ચાલુ થઈ હતી.
કાજલ મહેરિયાએ શરૂઆતની જિંદગીમાં ખૂબ જ સંઘર્ષ કર્યો છે. કાજલ અને તેમના માતા રીક્ષામાં પોગ્રામ કરતાં હતા. આખી રાત ગાવાના માત્ર 300 રૂપિયા મળતાં હતા.
બાદમાં કાજલે મહેસાણામાં નવરાત્રિના પ્રોગામમાં ગાવાનું શરૂ કર્યું હતું. અહીં કાજલના મામા સંગીત વગડતા હતા અને કાજલ પોતે ગાતી હતી.
કાજલે સિંગિગ ચાલુ કર્યાના ચાર વર્ષ સુધી ખૂબ સંઘર્ષ કર્યો હતો. એક રાતના માત્ર 300 રૂપિયા મળતા હતા. રીક્ષામાં પોગ્રામ કરવા જવું પડતું. ક્યારેક ખાવાનું પણ મળતું નહોતું.
કાજલ મહેરિયાના મોસાળમાં બ્રહ્માણી માતાજીનો ઉત્સવ હતો ત્યારે સિંગર તેજલબેન ઠાકોરને બોવાવવામાં આવ્યા હતા. ત્યારે સ્ટેજ પાસે બધા લોકોની જેમ કાજલે પણ તેજલબેનની આતુરતાથી રાહ જોઈ હતી. આ સમયે કાજલે નક્કી કરી નાંખ્યું હતું કે હું પણ એવી કલાકાર બનીશ કે બધા મારી પણ રાહ જોતા હશે.
કાજલના ઘણા બધા ગીતમાં બેવફા શબ્દ તો આવે જ છે. આ અંગે કાજલે એક ઈન્ટરવ્યૂમાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે તેનું દીલ તૂટ્યું નથી, પણ ચાહકો અને આયોજકની ફરમાઈશના કારણે તેને આ ગીત ગાવું પડે છે. કલાકાર માટે તો બઘા ગીત સરખા જ હોય છે.
આજે કાજલ પાસે 4થી વધુ કાર છે. જોકે કાજલને ફોર વ્હિલરનું ડ્રાઈવિંગ આવડતું નથી.
કાજલને ગયા વર્ષે બર્થ-ડે પર તેના પરિવારે ફોર્ચ્યુનર કાર ગિફ્ટમાં આપી હતી.
કાજલ મહેરિયાને ભારત બહાર ફોરેનમાં પોગ્રામ કરવાનું સપનું છે. તેમાં પણ ખાસ કરીને યુએસએમાં પોગ્રામમાં તેને ગાવા જવું છે. જોકે અહીના વ્યસ્ત શિડ્યુઅલના કારણ તે ફોરેન પોગ્રામમાં જઈ શકતી નથી.
કાજલ મહેરિયાની સફળતામાં સૌથી વધુ તેમના માતાનો ફાળો છે.
