પાકિસ્તાન અધિકૃત કાશ્મીર, પેશાવર, રાવલપિંડી અને લાહોરના વિસ્તારોમાં ભૂકંપ આવતાં અફરાતફરીનો માહોલ જોવા મળ્યો હતો. આ ભૂકંપની તીવ્રતા 6.1ની જાણવા મળી હતી જે 8થી 10 સેકેન્ડ સુધી સતત આંચકો આવ્યો હતો.

મીરપુરના ડીઆઈજી સરદાર ગુલફરાઝ ખાને જણાવ્યા પ્રમાણે, ભૂકંપના લીધે 26 લોકોના મોત નિપજ્યાં છે જ્યારે ઈજાગ્રસ્તોની સંખ્યા 300થી વધારે છે. મૃતકમાં એક બાળકી સામેલ છે. અહીં ઘણાં મકાનોમાં દિવાલ ધરાશાઈ થઈ હતી. રસ્તાઓમાં પહોળી તિરાડો પડી ગઈ હતી અને ગાડીઓ અંદર ઘૂસી ગઈ હતી.

પાકિસ્તાનના મેટેરોલોજીકલ વિભાગના ડેપ્યુટી ડાયરેક્ટરે જણાવ્યુ હતું કે, ભૂંકપનું કેન્દ્ર જમીનની અંદર 10 કિલોમીટર નીચે હતું અને ખૈબર પખ્તુન્ખ્વા સહિત મીરપુર, પીઓકે અને પંજાબ પ્રાંતમાં તેની અસર વર્તાઈ હતી. અત્યારે લોકો સોશિયલ મીડિયા પર તસવીરો અને માહિતી શેર કરી રહ્યાં છે.
